Has anyone heard what's going on with UK at this time?

If you don't have a rejection yet you are probably on the wait list. Applicants have to make a choice by May 15 for all schools. Don't know any specific info. If you call them up it could be to your advantage by putting your name in their head (subcommittee type thing).

What do you want to know exactly? You would have heard from them even if you were on the waitlist. What is your question?

I haven't been placed on a waitlist yet. They told me I'm deferred. I want to know if they have started a waitlist and if anyone is on it yet.

There are students on here planning to attend UK next year, Busta. Plus, I'm sure, there are others who are currently MS's there now. Please show a little more courtesy.

Sorry, should I conceal my honest opinion, lie, and say I think UK is a wonderful school.

I have a feeling he would say that about any school someone on here asked about.

You could shut up as well. Yes, it is worth a bit of my life to express my opinion about UK, and it only took 10 seconds actually.

I don't know anything about being deferred, I'm sorry. There are about 4 or 5 of us on this board accepted to UK. Maybe you could ask Kim Scott about it. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe Jamier2 will reply with a better answer.

I'll add my question about UK here.

What is the likelihood of getting accepted as out of state? My mom lives there, I've visited numerous times, and lived there for a summer. I have strong ties and absolutely love the school and Lexington. Yet, I'm not a KY resident. Do they even accept out of staters at all?

Hi. I know they do accept out-of-staters, though I dont know what percentage of the class is such. I was accepted as out-of-state b/c there was some question re: my Kentucky residency (which I had to later appeal to get in-state residency). good luck!

Cool...thanks Astrid.

So you're sayin' there's a chance!!!

I recently received a letter from UK stating that they were putting me on hold so that they could compare me to other applicants. Does this mean that I am on hold for the waitlist?!?
I am out-of-state.

DOES YOUR LETTER SAY YOU WERE ON HOLD OR DEFERRED? I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.

why dont you call the admissions office? they're really nice re: answering questions there.

They take 10% of their class as out of staters. The minimum qualifications are a 30 mcat and 3.75 gpa. If you have strong ties to the state, I am sure that helps a lot. On the secondary application, there is an essay for out of staters only that is something about why you want to go to UK, which would be a good time to explain your ties. :)

The letter that I got from Kentucky said that I was deferred and to send transcripts, etc. How big is the waitlist at Kentucky anyway?

What is the likelihood of getting accepted as out of state?•••••Wasn't Mongoose an out-of-stater? I know he got into UK, and I am almost sure he's from Tennessee.

Good luck, they do take some of you guys.

Good luck, they do take some of you guys.•••••Damn it!!! I feel like I've outlived my usefulness around here. I was reading this thread and thinking I could offer an insightful response when WHAM Jamier2 covers just what I was gonna say....thanx dude! I am from TN and I did get accepted to UK, but that ain't the whole truth. I lived in Kentucky for the first 22 years of my life give or take a year. In fact, I just completed my application to be reclassified as in-state for tuition purposes and it looks like that is gonna work out for me. I never changed my car to out of state license, never changed voter registration, etcetera ad nauseum. Technically out of state but not really.

KyGrl, that was not very nice...

I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE WAITLIST YET. THAT"S WHY I'M POSTING. I SENT EMAIL TO THE ADMISSION OFFICE BUT HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. I WAS HOPING SOMEONE KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON THERE. I THINK GETTING DEFERRED PUTS US ON THIER WAITLIST AND HOPE WE DON'T GET REJECTED BEFORE THAT. Thanx

BTW, you're still useful (I think) I was just trying to cover for you. :)

Ok, I just thought I would monopolize this thread, lol, but for those of you going to UK, I want to see a picture of you this summer before school starts so I can introduce myself. :)

Remember that financial aid seminar...well, after seeing your website w/ pics you are definitely who I thought you were...and a lot better looking in person, too, I might add. Those pictures just don't do you justice. I still am not absolutely certain about Jamier2, but I am fairly certain I had him spotted out. Probably not too many Jamie R's in the incoming class and I did spot one...had a Mrs. M standing nearby, if that means anything to any of you. OK, I am kinda scaring myself now with how observant I am. Better quit before I start sounding like a psycho or something....or is it too late for that?

Frankly, it scares me. :)

But, I'll give you credit, I think you have the right Jamie R. I was convinced when you mentioned the Mrs. M. (aha, correct again!). How many Jamie R's can there be in one class, anyway?

I can't believe you still remember my wife's nametag after all this time. :)

It's my curse, I tell you...I remember the most trivial details sometimes. And, on top of that, I am probably the most observant person you will ever meet. Bad combo.

Ok, in that case, you can introduce yourself to me since you know who I am. Good, now I can just sit back and wait :) . And Jamier2, do you have brown hair? lol. JK, Most of the guys I saw had brown hair, so that really wouldnt narrow you down any. How old are you and mongoose?

As for my age, I'll be 27 the next time you see me.

I'm 25...I think...wait here, let me count....yeah, 25. And I bet KyGrl is 22...Am I right?

hey, i'll see you guys in August!! ha ha none of you know what i look like!! i'll be one of the old folks though (all of 26).

I worked at a gas station when I was 18 and people kept saying, "I thought you had to be 18 to sell cigarettes...etc" AND when I was filling out my med school applications, people where my mom works thought I was applying to undergrad colleges.
