I'm only starting my second year of undergrad. I had a rough start with my GPA first semester being a 2.41 but I pulled it up to a 3.06. I'm worried I won't be able to get to a 3.6 or 3.7, which will be impossible for me to do. Any advice? Should I retake biology 1 class? My biology 1 grade was a D and my biology 2 grade is to a B+. My friends keep telling me it looks good that I made a jump in grades but I'm not sure. I also have no started shadowing or any hours. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
It's not too late to get your GPA into a competitive range, but you need to excel from now on. Adcomms will appreciate a steep upward grade trend. You may need have less fun, stay in college longer, or add summer school coursework to help compensate for the lower grades.

Retake Bio I. Good job on the B+ for Bio 2.

It's not too early to contact your dentist and ask about shadowing time over school vacations. You want to be sure dentistry is right for you before committing to this path. But otherwise, don't worry about ECs until your study strategies are solid and you can afford those distractions There is no rule about starting professional school immediately after college. It's much harder to repair a damaged GPA than it is to acquire the necessary activities that Dental School adcomms expect to see.

2 DAT scores are based on a 30-point standard scale. The mean DAT score weights the average of each individual dental school equally and considers only non-zero entries. As the number of first-year students varies by dental schoo, the mean DAT scores shown in Table 17 is a weighted figure, and does not represent the true acverage of all first-year students.

You should plan to retake your biology 1 course because D is not passing. You say you want to go to dental school but you ought to shadow before you really decide. You really should work on your study habits and surround yourself with strong mentors who can lift you up. It's not too late but you need to really focus on making sure you can get ready for a lifetime career.
