Technology Wireless internet for laptop

A friend of mine has a cell - phone service that lets her hook her laptop into the phone to get wireless internet. For the life of me, I can't remember, nor can find, the name of the service or the company. Any help? Thanks.

I think all the cellular phone companies offer that service. It's called 3G, or GPRS.

It's ridiculously costly though.
