Leave of absence and its consequences

Hi I agree with Roja. This does not need to be in your PS. I took a leave when I was first accepted for med school. I returned from the year off, did well in school, applied for EM, was fortunate to get plenty of interviews and matched at my top choice. I was asked about my year off at maybe...

How many of the current EM residents enjoyed "clinic" rotations as a student?

AMEN! I am not a resident...yet...but I can honestly tell you that I HATE my ambulatory month! Its just so freaking boring...and time just doesn't pass in clinic. I'm glad others feel this way too...As important as post-hospital admit f/u and lipid checks are...they just don't turn me on!

Official MCW Class of 2009 Thread

Congrats to all accepted to MCW! Its a great school and you'll get a good education here. :) If you're waitlisted, let them know how badly you'd like to attend. I think its too early to find out your rank...but the list does move a lot...so don't give up on it. Maple

Aren't schools supposed to care if you're flunking a course?

Exactly what I was thinking.... I'm sorry your experience has been so tough Persia...keep at it..it has to get better. If you stick it out, they will have to acknowledge you. good luck! Maple

    indicate race?

No reason to hide it and if you get an interview, it will be obvious anyway....It really doesn't matter whether or not you disclose and they don't care either which is why its optional. If you have a solid application, just complete your apps, cross your fingers and wait. It'll work out! :)

Does Your School Have Class Notes?

At MCW we have note packets which we buy at the beginning of school year. Some are very complete and you can add more stuff during lecture...others are more bare, and you have to take good notes. We also have a student run notes service, where the day's lecture is essentially transcribed. All in...

    tulane vs. nymc!!??

Pick Tulane....Better school+ better reputation= may help out in the future. May sound jaded, but if you get into a better ranking/reputed school with a good program, then you should pick it! Maximize your chances come residency/match time. good luck!
