    Nervous about flying???

To the OP - I don't like flying much anymore either. What helps me is to check out the pilots and other crew. They all seem like fairly "reasonable" people, and it assures me that if they have chosen to do this every day in ALL kinds of weather conditions, then it must be ok. It just helps to...

    Long distance relationships

I'll add my towel in the "it can be done" corner. I was in a long-distance relationship for 5 years - 15 hour drive, or shorter plane ride.... and we survived. Now we are married and have 3 young children, and are looking at doing it again, this time closer (2 hour drive) and with the kids...

Higher insurance premiums for obese individuals?

I agree with Vizzini, where do we draw the line? Although I think it is a good idea to encourage obese people to adopt healthier lifestyles, I don't think charging higher insurance rates would be effective or fair. What about other risk factors.... many doctors live very unhealthy lifestyles...

    I applied 3 years in a row...

Hey Jess, I am a non-trad applicant waiting for news from Dal too. 2nd time applying. You said you are a resident of NB - are you Canadian? What's your story about being in the US? Anyway, nice to meet you.

    How "old" will you be?

    38 and counting...;)

    cold feet

I have to disagree slightly with what the majority of you are posting. The twenties are a wonderful and carefree decade and the op's concerns are very valid. Once you have children, mortgages, etc etc.... the reality of life is much more complicated. Believe me, before I had kids I would've...

    Body Mass Index question?

BMI doesn't really apply for athletes, especially those who lift much weights. It is really meant as a rule of thumb measure for the more general "couch potato" population. So I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Give up six-figured Job for med school?

You can count me in too, but in a bit of a round-about way. I was earning 6 figures in investment banking (post MBA) about 7 years ago, when I gave it up completely to stay at home with my first child. My kids are 6.5, 5 and 3 now, and I will not be going back into that industry for any amount...

SWK -- Students With Kids Support Group

Hi folks, I have three kids - Boy 6.5, Girl almost 5 and Girl 3. It is very busy in our house!! I just finished two years of prereqs and am waiting to hear (any day now) whether I have been accepted for this fall. It is nice to be off for the summer at least.

Anyone hope they don't get in??

I am a bit worried that I will get in, but it is probably just "waiting nerves". I guess I just think that although I've been pursuing this for the past two years, my youngest child is only 3, and one more year at home with her would be really nice. On the flip side, I am already 37  and...

Any of you question whether you can make it through med school?

I totally relate to what some of you guys are saying. I worry about my memory (or lack thereof...) and I worry that I will be too outside my comfort zone. I also worry about the impact of this on my kids (age 2,4, and 6) and husband....uggg. Too much to worry about. I haven't been accepted...
