    Chances at BID and Yale?

Consider doing rotations at these places, and getting letters from them. Don't know Yale well, but BI gets a lot of away students, they have a really nice computer system, and it's very easy to get used to. I got a great letter from my away rotation there and I think it definitely helped clinch...

If you don't get the "you will be ranked high" letter/phone call/email...

Of course, with the match there's always a chance. Isn't that the point? Look at it this way, the program may have contacted others besides you, but these applicants may prefer other programs. Leaving a spot for you, maybe?

Help in guiding applicant with low board scores

If he is not opposed to community programs he should definitely look at Mt Auburn, Cambridge, Carney, St E's, etc, where he would have a good chance of getting in. However, as previously mentioned, away rotations, and most importantly rocking step 2 (he should take it as early as possible, i.e...

University of Massachusetts vs Drexel, PA --for IM

I think it is due to location. Drexel is in Philly which is a major city with lots to do etc. Worcester is a large New England city by area and population but lacks some of the nightlife, culture, etc. of other east coast places like Boston, NYC, Philly etc. There is still stuff to do in...

    Interview experiences

Just wanted to throw in a word for the 2nd look. Interviewed at MGH and LOVED it-- like Bix couldn't find anything wrong with the place...and I was hoping to since my school has only sent a handful of people there in its history. However went back for a 2nd look last week and was definitely not...

yet another "please help me rank" thread

Lahey doesn't have a Heme-Onc fellowship, and I believe the rest do. They are in the process of building a multi-disciplinary cancer center, but probably won't be done in your time there. Also Lahey doesn't have very strong matches in Heme-Onc. So I'd put that one near the bottom.

    Last possible date...

Zolpidem-That is not what I meant at all. None of the IM programs I applied to (or any I've heard of except Dartmouth) require step 2CS or CK prior to ranking. I personally was hoping to take the tests in enough time to submit scores prior to ranking just to help my chances, you know what I...

    Last possible date...

What is the last possible date one could take step2CK or CS and still get scores in by ranking deadline 2/22? In example, the USMLE website states that you need to take CS by 1/31 in order to have "scores for the match" but what does this really mean? I don't care if I have a score on match...

Just messed up with a major reference-- what should I do-- Pls Help

I really wouldn't worry about it....you messed things up with him after he wrote you a letter right? Well, as long as you think he wrote a decent letter that's all that matters. Med schools very rarely contact your references,as some one else said. I applied to 30 schools last year and not...

    start dates for med schools

I just got married last Sunday and I'll be starting med school the second week of August. I leave for my honeymoon on Saturday (can't wait). Anyway...I would advise a mid-late June or very early July wedding date. Orientations are usually earlier than this time frame, and most schools start...
