It’s a brutal process. Nothing about it is fun if you don’t knowI’m just terrified. I’ve no one to relate to bc most of my classmates got calls that they were ranked #1. Hence these anxious posts on an anonymous blog

This was super reassuring, thank you! One more day! (+1 more week )I never got a call, same with some of my other close friends.
We all went where we wanted.
Holy cow is matching 15 normal or is that a little overkill?# of Programs Applied: 22
# of Interviews Attended: 15. 13 were done at CRIP and 2 on zoom. 9 were cold interviews. My stamina didn't start dropping till after 10 or 11 interviews, but I guess it was worth it.

100% agreed here. My close friends and I all got a program we wanted, be it #1 or #2. I think maybe 50% of them had any sort of call, convo, etc., indicating interest.I never got a call, same with some of my other close friends.
We all went where we wanted.
Correct!! Next FridayCongrats all who matched! You’ll know where by next week, right?
I’d guess 5-10 per school, dependent on the size of their class. How many ppl from each school are in match phase 2?
Apparently this mirrors MD/DO... they match, then find out where soon after 🤷🏻♂️Ok, congrats to those who matched.
Next, two dumb questions:
1 - Wtf is match part 2 / phase 2? Is that a euphemism for what scramble is called now?
2 - Ppl don't know their match... on MATCH day? That's flat-out amazing. For ppl in scramble, knowing who matched and would be their co-resident is hugely important.
...and to answer some questions:
How many spots scramble programs still have open: for Wycoff and most NYC programs, that is equal to how many approved positions they have
Hmm, super illogical and drama... but not totally shocking as podiatry does everything to copy MD, ortho, etc processes (obvious exceptions of admissions standards and limiting schools).Apparently this mirrors MD/DO... they match, then find out where soon after 🤷🏻♂️
1. Not everything that is new is dumb. They have had the MP2 process for probably 7-8(?) years now.Ok, congrats to those who matched.

you sure it's still good? not what I've heard....and to answer some questions:
1 - Yeah, PI program is quite good but not for everyone. My impression was similar for that clerkship and also when I went to Presby (not surprising, since a few PI alumni are main attendings). I learned on those months but didn't apply for the interview with either.
Yeah, they still have solid education, solid meetings, nearly all alumni are fair to excellent.you sure [PI] is still good? not what I've heard.
Damnnnnnnnnnnn. I did not know about that.Crazy things like the annual OCPM shuttle full of unmatched students driving to NY overnight and dropping them off in the middle of NYC no longer needs to happen.
I had no idea that happened.^^ That's incredibly sad....They have had the MP2 process for probably 7-8(?) years now.
It is a much better and organized process having a 2nd round of match of all the unmatched applicants and programs with open spots. Students would have to have a suitcase packed the morning of match and hope that they lived in an area near available programs for a chance. Crazy things like the annual OCPM shuttle full of unmatched students driving to NY overnight and dropping them off in the middle of NYC no longer needs to happen...
It would help people to know, though I suppose you could also argue it gives some people and advantage that others don't have.I had no idea that happened.^^ That's incredibly sad.
I thought scramble was usually just having the CV/app ready for a phone/email/fax/zoom hustle and typically taking that match day off of pod school for the students involved in scramble (and being more available than usual for the programs' receptionist + director). I guess a second match timespan of 1-2wk more or whatever is a better way for all involved. It doesn't stop programs from deciding on the first day of scramble who they want (assuming the student interest is reciprocal), but it definitely lessens the urgency for both parties and allows them more time to find the best fit.
...I still don't understand why the students and programs who matched couldn't be told their match on the day the unmatched found out they were scrambling, though. It seems unnecessarily dramatic to hold the info from 90% because of 10%. None of that knowledge of match results affects the scramble process. It would actually help the scramble students to know who else is going there if a programs had matched 3/4 spots and scrambled 1/4. Most scramble students obviously target their clerkships or desired area programs (if any scrambled) versus unknowns, but even with unknown programs, that would only help them to know which classmates or co-clerks are locked in already and to be able to ask the scramble programs who else matched. They could gain info if they knew any of those match students through their school, clerkships, social network, etc.
The real problem with the MP2 is that the scramble isn't run through a match algorithm (unless they changed it again) like the first match is. Its done in rounds and the danger is that good candidate could have better options waiting for them in later rounds but they feel obligated to take whatever they can get in their first round.
Wonderful. That's great. They actually changed it this year. They run a match one time for MP2. They will find out their program on match day.
A buddy of mine scrambled. around 67-68 students scrambling with roughly 88 spots. Just the rumor going around lol. I know a few of them are also top of their class. For lack of a better term WOOF. Last year was a much better time to scramble. How many ppl from each school are in match phase 2?
They scrambled multiple spots too. Unbelievable that the next up and coming high powered residency program could scramble multiple spots! How could Cape Fear scramble after all the SDN buzz and an epic meme...
It really is shocking the amount of students who were ranked near the top of their class and went unmatched. Hope it works out for all of them.A buddy of mine scrambled. around 67-68 students scrambling with roughly 88 spots. Just the rumor going around lol. I know a few of them are also top of their class. My biggest critique is IF there are *allegedly* 20 open residency spots if all 67-68 students match, do we need two schools to fill those 20 spots? Should these 20 spots even exist? To me if these numbers are even in the ballpark of what is actual, there is a residency shortage incoming with these two new schools.

pro tip: no one cares or knows your grades usually. It really is shocking the amount of students who were ranked near the top of their class and went unmatched. Hope it works out for all of them.
Not true. But you could make the argument that they don’t matter as much as one would think.pro tip: no one cares or knows your grades usually.

For Keralty, perhaps the terrible pay?Whats up with Westchester/Keralty?? Always see them and Wycoff on this list
The program director has 2 different residency programs in Florida. Is that even legal? Lol and Keralty has 4 spots, other program has 1 spot! what i heard is that the director cares more about the 1 spot program. Plus terrible pay as wellWhats up with Westchester/Keralty?? I clerked with Dr Carbonell years ago. The rotation was after interviews so basically a nice vacation month for me, haha. He runs a really fast paced clinic so it was a good practice management elective for me. I didn't scrub a single case that month, not that I wanted to at that point. The program director has 2 different residency programs in Florida. Is that even legal?
