i am currently a pgy-1

if I want to switch into a program next year as a pgy2, then how would i know which programs would have open pgy2 spots next year

(in other words, on those websites, where they list open pgy2 spots, do they refer to next year pgy2 spots being available, or do they mean that their program is lacking a filled current pgy2 spot.)

And when is it too late to apply for a pgy2 spot? If i want to switch residencies altogether, then I know it's too late because i would have to go into the match again, and it's too late to apply (i think), but is the deadline for a pgy2 spot similar?

You may have to call them to find out for sure.

I think you need to call the programs and find out... because one program might have ment PGY 2 immediately... and another maybe ment PGY 2 in July. Start calling.
