As terrible as this pandemic that we are currently facing is, it is an incredible opportunity for you all to see the character of these schools. How organized are they? Did they roll into distance learning and adapt with relative ease, or is it an absolute disaster? Did they take this seriously to begin with or brush it off as an inconsequential threat in Europe and Asia? And most importantly: How did they treat their medical students and residents? Were the students shielded as early as possible from the disease or sent in without PPE to patients exhibiting all signs in symptoms up until they AAMC shut down classes? Did the school attempt to press 4th yrs into service as a mandatory class w/o pay? Did the school say it wouldn't graduate students early, but then rush them through everything so they could volunteer as medical providers? Or did they allow students to graduate early and go serve in their community in this time of crisis.
These are some the things yall really need to look at and inquire about from medical students. The schools can talk a big game, but when the chips are down you will see who they truly are. Seriously, reach out to med students, browse the forums here and the sub-reddits. Make an informed decision, and stay inside.
