What kind of Research?

I'm currently an M1 looking into research opportunities at my medical school and there are very few(2 actually) projects that are even related to neuro. One is associated with the Pathology Dept and another with ENT Dept. I was wondering whether it mattered if research was related to neuro or not was relevant in fulfilling the research component for applying to neurosurgery residency. I have found opportunities in General Surgery and Physiology/Biochemistry unrelated to neuro, but I am unsure which to pursue. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Pursue what you have the most interest in. Neuro research is better but not required.
