From my perspective, in terms of the residency director perceptions, the Einstein classes up until class of 2028 are all going to be the same type and caliber of students as usual. I think this will come a few more years into the future once the classes coming from the free tuition have entered residency. However, Einstein matches well as is and I thought this years match list was really solidIt seems almost certain that Einstein will rise in the ranks in the coming years due to free tuition.
However, I would love to hear any thoughts about whether residency directors will perceive Einstein students to be of the same caliber as students from T20s by the time the class of 2028 applies to residency. Or will the increased perception occur for the next cycle (class of 2029) since the announcement came after the first round of acceptances?
Doubt it tbh. Its perception won’t change imo. NYU went from like 14 to 2 after free tuition then back to 11 now (I don’t feel like looking up the exact numbers, I had them posted earlier in the thread). It seems almost certain that Einstein will rise in the ranks in the coming years due to free tuition.

You're talking about USNWR rankings. They changed the methodology drastically last year because of severe criticism (spoiler: they didn't do anything better), but it's the reason why NYU went "down". Every single year between 2017 - 2022 before then, they rose up.Doubt it tbh. Its perception won’t change imo. Yup when I talked with a few med students they mentioned that they match extremely well already and PDs already know about Einstein’s reputation. They didn’t really think there would be much of a difference. Plus Einstein has gotten huge research grants in the past so they already have eyes on them from outside donors prior to free tuition. You're talking about USNWR rankings. Einstein matches pretty ridiculously well already (most IM matches T20 across the country, NSG at T10, etc.). The increased profile and free tuition will likely drive it higher, but it's already really good.
I thought this years match list was really solid
it's on the accepted student DiscordHave they made this year's match list public yet? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
I was primarily comparing Einstein's match list to T20 med schools. I don't think they are on the same level, but I do agree that overall Einstein's match list is decent for IM. I don't think they are as competitive for the more competitive specialties thoughYup when I talked with a few med students they mentioned that they match extremely well already and PDs already know about Einstein’s reputation. From what I understand, the best IM programs tend to be as competitive as any top program from more competitive specialties. But I was seeing some great matches for other specialties (derm, NSG, ENT, etc.)I was primarily comparing Einstein's match list to T20 med schools. Good point. They do have some great matches for competitive specialties - UCSF for ENT, UMiami for derm, UPMC for NSG. However, I also have a feeling that the odds of these incredible matches is increased due to the sheer size of the medical school class. From what I understand, the best IM programs tend to be as competitive as any top program from more competitive specialties. But I was seeing some great matches for other specialties (derm, NSG, ENT, etc.)
I think match lists are hard to read though. I get the sense that a school's opportunities get a foot in the door, but the rest is on you.
Oh yeah should’ve prefaced that I’m interested in IM and the med students I was talking to were also talking about how Einstein matches really well for IM in particular. Yeah based on previous matches Einstein doesn’t seem to match super competitively compared to T20s but I guess it depends on what you’re looking for in a residency. One may be more enticing despite being “less prestigious” so Einstein could be a better fit for you compared to T20a which match better for the more competitive specialties as you mentioned!I was primarily comparing Einstein's match list to T20 med schools. I think WL movement would start around May 1st after people start making plans on committing to schools. Plus schools don't really get back about financial aid stuff until around April so I don't think there will be too much movement until May 1st.any movement on WL? (praying)
No movement occurred until May last yearany movement on WL? (praying)

Pretty sure its just the class interest. They probably have no problem matching students into ortho.Only two ortho? Does anyone have a historical sense of how well Einstein normally match into ortho?
Look back through the years. Probably around 5 for the avg iircOnly two ortho? Does anyone have a historical sense of how well Einstein normally match into ortho?
when did you interview?Friends, I'm currently sitting on HPWL with 0 A's this cycle. If any of you are accepted to equally amazing schools, I would literally sell you my soul for the next 4 years if you took those other offers.
(Just kidding, but I'm sweating super hard. Generationally broke and Einstein is my #1)
Read through the past bunch of years. 0 As were given post II after the Feb 1st release. Everyone else got WL/HPWL/R.Does anyone know the chances of acceptances for March/ April interviews? Or is it interviewing for a waitlist spot?
Have there been any WLs other than HPWL following the free tuition news? I feel like they're either going to give out HPWL or Rs because there is going to be such little movement and putting people on the WL which sees even less movement may not be fair to students. Not sure though just throwing ideas out there...Read through the past bunch of years. 0 As were given post II after the Feb 1st release. Everyone else got WL/HPWL/R.
The HPWL could turn to an A eventually in May (if we get movement this year).
Yea haven’t seen any normal waitlists Anyone know if ppl on the normal wl ever get shifted to hpwl? I was put on it before the news.Have there been any WLs other than HPWL following the free tuition news? This may be false hope but I do think that there is going to be at least some movement in the HPWL or regular WL. I've mentioned it before but some schools are willing to match (happened to a friend of mine) and depending on people's aspirations or financial position, may choose higher ranked schools. Financial aid is also messed up this year because of FAFSA so I think people are holding onto As in hopes of either using it to their advantage elsewhere or until they hear back from other schools they've been accepted into.
Maybe people have posted about getting shifted up in previous years? I feel like even if you do on their end they wouldn't tell you. Plus, I don't think your place on the HPWL or WL is based on when you interviewed and instead based on your fit to the school so maybe someone who is yet to interview late March or in April will be at the very top depending on how their interview goes.Yea haven’t seen any normal waitlists Anyone know if ppl on the normal wl ever get shifted to hpwl? I was put on it before the news.
I have absolutely nothing to add just hoping that by writing this message I can keep the neuroticism ball rolling until I eventually realize it’s past May 1st and WL movement already startedI agree with that. I think no A’s after announcement and if there is any WL movement (big if) first movements will be those who would have received A’s based on pre announcement yield projections.
Best of luck all!
Did they mention anything at all about what the "enhancement program" would be like? Have they done something like this in the past or is it new starting this cycle?Interviewed in September. Sent a LOI after not hearing back in February. Just hearing back with a post II rejection at 4pm today. Email asked me if I’d be interested in a possible one year enhancement program with guaranteed admission for next year. Will be pursuing my other acceptances instead. Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to those waiting!
The email specifically said they cant provide details at this time but are asking if I would be interested. I tried looking it up but couldnt find anything about the program so it may be something they’re creating. Unsure.Did they mention anything at all about what the "enhancement program" would be like? What is your perspective on this program? Ive seen it periodically mentioned. Also received post-II R with an offer of an enhancement program for guaranteed admission next year! Good luck everyone else awaiting a decision and congrats to all acceptances!!
When did you interview if you don’t mind me asking? Also were you on a WL at any point? Also received post-II R with an offer of an enhancement program for guaranteed admission next year! Good luck everyone else awaiting a decision and congrats to all acceptances!!
I think it's a potentially great opportunity for those who have no As currently. However, I'm curious about what the requirements are to be admitted the following year. I'm assuming "enhancement program" is just another way of saying SMP. Hypothetical situation, but will they only guarantee admission to those in the program who get like a 3.9+ GPA and retake the MCAT to get a 515+? If the standards are something insane like that, it's not worth it to me. On the other hand, you pay one year for a program that if you meet the requirements, you get admission to one of the best med schools in the nation with free tuition for four years as well as cheap student housing. For me personally, I won't be accepting as I currently have acceptances already. What is your perspective on this program? Ive seen it periodically mentioned.
Interviewed on 12/12 and did not receive a WL at any point! When did you interview if you don’t mind me asking? Also were you on a WL at any point?
You have to maintain a 3.2 gpa in the program and tuition is coveredI think it's a potentially great opportunity for those who have no As currently. Oh thats great, where were you able to find this info? I couldn't find anything onlineYou have to maintain a 3.2 gpa in the program
True, I'll send one and see if I can get additional detailsCan’t you just just answer yes you are interested? Doesn’t sound like you are committing and how can you be said to commit to something you have absolutely no details about?
Seems risk free to just say “Yes, I would be interested”
Well I guess the difference is that if you’re on the WL you have a chance to matriculate without taking extra steps for that year.wouldn't it make more sense to offer a program like that to those who are waitlisted? I am just so confused on what their plan is
