I think it's a max of $150 depending on what they need from you. Mine ended up actually charging me like $80 or $90 I think.

Does this mean they have extra interview spots still? And do I have to submit a letter of interest to be considered? This is rather confusing because CCOM is the only school that has not yet outright rejected or interviewed me.

I don’t get why they do this when people are basically just interviewing for the WL at this point. And there already is a Wl that’s had very little movement… make it make sense

Well It is less than ideal but I would not turn my nose up at a potential interview even this late in the applications since I am still on wait lists for other schools and am not yet committed.

Current student here! It takes them about 2 weeks but just FYI CCOM does not give basically any scholarships until the winter and spring quarter

Sure! It’s not all merit based, they have a ton of different scholarships based on a large variety of criteria! There is a portal that opens and you can apply to as many as you want

Would any current students be able to give some insight on what supplies we need to purchase for school (stethoscope, other medical supplies, etc) and if there is anything provided? I just want to plan out a little what I have to get and make sure I don’t get anything that’s already provided!

Scrubs in your class color (double check with them, but it should be Navy blue for next year's incoming class), and they'll want you to buy an otoscope/ophthalmoscope, which they will email you about a "deal" through the bookstore for the Welch-Allyn one. If you don't want/need a nice one, save money and get a cheap one. They're just for learning in lab. For all OSCEs they are provided in the SIM center exam rooms. Essentially everywhere else you'll go on rotations you will have oto/ophthalmoscopes if you need one.

M1s get a stethoscope (Littman Card IV), a bag, and some other small stuff like reflex hammer, tuning forks I think.

Wait and see about other stuff like Amboss etc.

Also, I’m pretty sure there’s a correlation between when CCOM pulls people off waitlist and when they interviewed as they interview higher stat applicants first/early.

I disagree about the higher stat/early interview theory. People who applied as late as January got interviews right away… there’s no way those people would get priority over someone who was equally or more qualified that applied when the cycle opened in May/June. Obviously between May and January there are going to be thousands of very high stat applicants who could’ve (and should’ve IMO) gotten picked for an II first. It really seemed like good timing played a role in when people got interviews. You can also see throughout sdn that people who sent an update got the II almost immediately after. Not all of those people were the highest stat applicants. This is not to say that ofc some high stat people got the earlier II, but it certainly does not hold true for the whole cycle. I know someone with a 4.0 and 518 mcat that didn’t get the II til April (who applied in June), and they got alt prob bc lack of openings that late in cycle. There’s a lot of uncontrolables in the app process. As for so many people getting the alt list, that is silly. They should’ve given the R to more people if they wanted to keep interviewing this late in the cycle.

I know that people with higher stats got off the waitlist quick though. Everyone I know that was accepted the first wave of waitlist movements was with higher stats. Iv been updating them almost biweekly but haven’t heard a thing since waitlisted.

I've been pretty much committed to Midwestern CCOM since I got my A and have moved forward with intent of going here, but I just got accepted off the WL at Western Michigan (MD) and now I'm torn...I'm from Chicago and staying close to family is really important to me but I know an MD school could open a lot of opportunities for me in the future...any advice?

MD for opportunities. Probably cheaper too
