Your Personal Statement. This 5,300-characters with spaces essay is your opportunity to share your character, perspectives, abilities, and what has reinforced your commitment to studying medicine. Keep it narrow. Your Work and Activities responses are your chance to show a broad overview of your experiences and the Personal Statement is a deep dive into one or two meaningful ones, grounded in a story. The most important question to answer in this essay is: Why are you capable of studying and practicing medicine?

Opening with you in the center of a clinical or laboratory experience is a strong move. As is showing yourself in another kind of deep learning moment or a collaborative or leadership role. Then in the next paragraph(s), you can get into some background information about you and tease why medicine is your passion.
