LizzyM calculation notes
Formula
LizzyM Score = (cumulative GPA x 10) + (((MCAT - 472) / 56) x 42 + 3).
Reference data
The outcome band uses AAMC A-23 applicant and matriculant data as a planning reference for similar GPA and MCAT ranges.
Limits
LizzyM is not an admissions prediction. Use it with mission fit, experiences, residency, cost, essays, and school-specific requirements.
How to interpret your score
LizzyM is best used as an early school-list screen, not as a prediction of admission. It combines GPA and MCAT into one academic reference, so it cannot capture science GPA, course difficulty, grade trends, essays, interviews, activities, residency preference, or mission fit.
Be especially careful with unbalanced profiles. A low GPA with a very high MCAT and a high GPA with a more modest MCAT can produce a similar LizzyM Score, even though schools may evaluate those applicants very differently.
Use the matching schools as a starting point, then refine your list with school-specific priorities: location, public or private status, cost, research or service emphasis, clinical experience expectations, and how well your application fits the program.
Rough score context
- 70+: commonly seen among very high-metric MD programs.
- 67-69.9: often overlaps with many research-intensive and highly selective MD programs.
- 65-66.9: often near the academic profile for many MD schools.
- 59-64.9: often overlaps with many DO programs and some MD programs.
Score ranges provide broad planning suggestions. They do not replace school-specific review.
