About the School

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), established in 1893, is a private, nonprofit academic medical center headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is the largest private medical school in the state and ranks as the third-largest private medical school in the nation. MCW operates three campuses: Milwaukee (flagship), Green Bay, and Central Wisconsin (Wausau). The institution is affiliated with major healthcare partners, including Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Wisconsin, and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. MCW is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).

Curriculum

MCW’s medical education is structured around the MCWfusion Curriculum, launched in 2023. This phased approach integrates foundational sciences with early clinical experiences. Phase 1 emphasizes organ system-based integrated science blocks and early clinical learning.
