About the School

Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) is a private allopathic medical school established in 2008 through a partnership between Oakland University and William Beaumont Health System. Located in Rochester, Michigan, OUWB welcomed its inaugural class in 2011 and achieved full accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in 2015. In 2021, the affiliation agreement between Oakland University and Beaumont Health was extended through 2041, ensuring continued collaboration in medical education and research.

Curriculum

OUWB offers an innovative four-year curriculum that integrates basic and clinical sciences. The program includes an organ system-based preclinical curriculum complemented by longitudinal courses in the art and practice of medicine, medical humanities and clinical bioethics, promotion and maintenance of health, and personal and professional development. Additionally, a four-year research program requires each student to undertake a scholarly project, contributing to the advancement of medicine and healthcare.

Facilities

The medical school is housed in O'Dowd Hall on Oakland University's main campus, providing students with access to the Kresge Library, the Hannah Hall of Science Anatomy Lab, the Oakland Center (student union), and the Recreation Center. Clinical education is conducted at Beaumont Health's primary teaching hospitals: Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak; Beaumont Hospital, Troy; and Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. These facilities offer state-of-the-art technologies and a diverse range of clinical experiences for medical students.
