Estimated loan burden for U-of-C using 4 years of in-state tuition, $1,500 annual fees, $3,000 monthly living expenses, government-derived local cost-of-living adjustment, $1,000 loan fees, and an 8.5% interest assumption.
Chicago, IL is close to the national average for cost of living. In the debt estimate, the government-derived local cost adjustment keeps the $3,000 monthly allowance at about $3,120 per month. Treat this as a city-level budgeting estimate, not the school's official cost of attendance.

The medical campus is the major provider of health care for the immediate neighborhood. It also meets community needs through shared service agreements, referral relationships with physicians and hospitals, and continuing medical education classes for five community hospitals. At the tertiary care level, the medical campus draws referrals from the entire region, including northern Indiana. Patients with particularly complex or obscure medical problems often travel long distances to the University of Chicago for treatment.
The medical campus includes many research institutes, among them the National Cancer Research Center; the Diabetes Research and Training Center; the Clinical Research Center; and the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center.
