About the School

The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Medicine, established in 1869 and chartered in 1881, became part of the University of Nebraska system in 1902. Located in Omaha, Nebraska, UNMC is a public academic health science center with a mission to improve health through education, research, and patient care. As of the 2024-25 academic year, UNMC enrolled 4,703 students across its various programs.

Curriculum

The College of Medicine's curriculum is structured into three phases: Foundations of Medicine, Clinical Applications, and Career Preparation. The first phase spans 18 months and integrates basic, clinical, and health systems sciences, organized by organ systems to mirror clinical practice. The second phase, lasting 12 months, immerses students in core clinical disciplines through hands-on patient care experiences in both hospital and ambulatory settings. Facilities

UNMC boasts state-of-the-art facilities to support medical education and research.
