About the School

The Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University, established in 1973, is a public medical school located in Dayton, Ohio. It serves the Miami Valley region and was renamed in 2005 to honor Oscar Boonshoft's $28.5 million contribution to medical education and research. The school has graduated over 2,820 physicians since its first class in 1980.

Curriculum

In 2021, the Boonshoft School of Medicine implemented a curriculum comprising 19.5 months of basic science training followed by 45 months of clinical training. Students take the USMLE Step 1 exam at the end of their basic science training before transitioning to the clinical curriculum. The school offers combined degree programs, including MD/MBA, MD/MPH, MD/MS, and MD/PhD.

An accelerated program is offered for those untreated in Family Medicine, Rural Family Medicine, and Pediatrics.

Facilities

The Gandhi Medical Education Center in White Hall provides state-of-the-art facilities for the first two years of medical school, featuring lecture halls with advanced technology, a modern anatomy lab, and 24/7 access to resources. Additionally, the Neuroscience Engineering Collaboration Building, opened in 2015, offers over 55,000 square feet of dedicated research space, fostering collaboration between biomedical researchers and engineers.
