Yeah, some did get in off the waitlist. I didn't mean to confuse you with my previous statement. I meant, compared to Davis/Irvine/SD waitlists, the UCLA waitlist doesn't look like moving at all. :( :rolleyes:
 
how does one become a member of this prestigious club? is there a hazing? i hope not b/c once you get a few beers in me i just go crazy! take a look at my pic and see if you don't mind!

Maybe the waitlist will start to move again because the few accepted off of the list two weeks ago (around June 10th) have to make their final decisions in 2 weeks, which would be about Juen 24th.

I was like "Hi, this is Scooby..can I speak to XXX"

He said "Oh..scooby doo??"

"How did you know that?!??!"

He kinda grumbled and went about his business..haha...oh well..I am sure they laugh about us calling in all the time.

When I was there for my interview late in May, the phone was ringing off the friggin hook for the 30 minutes I was sitting there! hahaha
Like 10 applicants called and his generic response was "What's your social security number?"

then he proceeds to tell you something to confuse you more :)
 
I keep on saying that this waiting thing is no big deal since I am going to go to a med school I will be happy at regardless of UCLA's decision, but the constant need to check this thread to find out any new info is driving me crazy. I feel like I am attached w/ ball & chain!
If only UCLA would hurry up!!!!!!! 2 weeks for students to decide!?!? That seems like an awfully long time!
 
yeah, don't most schools at this point give you like a day or two at the most? i mean, at this stage in the game it shouldn't take longer than that. if you haven't gotten in anywhere, then i imagine you would jump at the chance. and if you're going to another school, then you should know pretty much which one you prefer. it's not like people are waiting for acceptances from other schools since ucla has got to be the absolute slooooowest school out there. by the way has anybody ever gotten a response from emailing the admissions office? i'm getting nowhere with phone calls.
 
Here is the summary of my phone conversation today:

PW: "hi, I'm calling to inquire about the status of my file."
Lady on the phone : "what's your status?"
PW: "umm, well, waitlisted"
Lady on the phone: "then, that's your status. we would make calls if people get accepted."
PW: "uh, okay, will the change be reflected on our online system?"
Lady on the phone: "yes"

If she wasn't so terse and quick with hanging up, I wanted to ask so badly about where I am on the list... I CANNOT believe they don't even tell us whether we're on the upper half or lower half... :mad:

I believe that there has gots to be some sort of ranking. I don't think they will let us know anything about where we stand, but how could there not be any rank? Maybe when we originally were waitlisted there was no ranking. But now that the waitlisted people have pretty much been determined, there has to be some sort of procedure in handling all these files. From what I have heard about UCLA adcom, a different committee reviews the waitlisted candidates, which supports the idea that maybe back in May (before this committee met) that we were unranked. But now?!?! Do our names get pulled out of a hat? Does the adcom review every waitlisted file if a spot is made available?
I just do not understand why NO info is disclosed about their procedures. Many schools try to inform waitlistees of the process at hand and what they have to do as the office of admissions when they review waitlists.
So, I will go on and try to imagine what goes on behind those closed doors. My imagination is probably a lot more vivid than what actually goes on, but frustrates me even more. Just tell us something!!!!!!!!

the waiting is killing me slowly. even a rejection tomorrow will at least let me move on and forget about UCLA, but the uncertainty is what is driving me up against a wall.

The silver lining in this whole situation is that most of us seemingly have excellent schools to fall back on (i.e. Columbia, Duke, WashU, Cornell, Yale, etc.).

AND some of us don't have any other schools to fall back on. So, for those of you with acceptances to Wash U, Duke, Columbia, Yale, and etc., WITHDRAW FROM THE WAITLIST SO I CAN GO TO MEDICAL SCHOOL THIS YEAR!!! Ahh, I wish it was that easy!!! :( <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
 
I'm right with you zealous. At least they have somewhere to fall back on. My second option is just another waitlist <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> :mad: :confused: :rolleyes:

Thanks for the support guys. :clap: If only we could kick them off ourselves. I think I have it worse though: one waitlist(ucla), no acceptances.

anyone accepted from the waitlist? did u get a phone call or snail mail? what did the letter say?
 
Also, is the orientation date Aug 5th? If we dont hear by that date, that means we're out right?

In response to some questions about waitlist movement, I interviewed in January and was placed on the waitlist in April. My letter said that I had been placed on an unranked waitlist. In June, the web site said that my final decision letter had been mailed in June (it used to say April). I called when it said this, and Lily said that I got in. The letter showed up in the mail the next day. For those curious, after I got waitlisted, I sent in four additional letters of recommendation and wrote them a letter with updated information about once every two weeks. One of these letters said that they were my first choice. Basically I tried to space things out so that they got one piece of mail from me (either one of my letters or a letter of rec) each week. A professor of mine also contacted the admissions office right before they began reviewing the waitlist files. I didn't ask him to do this, so I found out about it after it happened. I have no idea what he said, or if he just sent an email, but he contacted Dr. Parker (by the way, my professor did not know Dr. Parker or anything, but a friend of mine that got into UCSD off the waitlist as grad student at Columbia told me that having a professor contact the admissions office helped her). Does anyone know about how many people so far have been pulled from the list?

I tried to get information about how often the committee meets but it seems that it's on a "need to do" basis. Well..&gt;I think they need to pull my ass off the waitlist immediately...should i call them up and tell them that? :)

Youposted in predental that you were at Harvard Dental School and you wanted to transfer to UCLA DENTAL SCHOOL...right?

But then you posted that you got INTO UCIrvine Medical school and OSHU Medical school and wanted to decide between those two.

Are you predental or preallo?

I am confused...and wondering just what you are trying to pull....

Ok insecure scooby doo. My gf is predental and she wants to transfer, and I was representing her. Do you have a problem or what? Quit searching ppl's history and being insecure and get a life. You can start calling me TROLL TROLL TROLL or whatever but I'm just here to ask some questions. Leave me alone and get a life.
