    New Duke PD: Stahmer

Interviewed with her at Cooper, and really liked her (two years ago). One of my fellow PGY-2's was a UMDNJ student and also has had many good things to say about her. She has lectured for our program (Drexel) as it's just across the river, and again, I can't say enough about her. She actually...

    180--from IM to EM....thoughts?

I agree with the above poster and want to again say that EM can be cerebral too... sure it will never be as cerebral as IM, but WTF is the point of being THAT cerebral (ie. the example of arguing over the K+)? A lot of people say that our job in the ED is to rule out the life-threatening...

    Ah, the ED ...

mmmdonuts/kinetic/whatever you want to call yourself... why are you so bitter? Clearly you have an agenda, and the fact you've had it for a year and a half raises questions. Then again I should have known you had an agenda when you begin a thread with a poll asking people to rate the...

    Best Residency Programs Overall?

IMHO there is no real way to answer this question. When I was interviewing I had people in my class that were ranking programs high on their list, only for me to go to that program and think of it as shoddy at best. Conversely, programs I ranked high were low on their list. The reason for...

In a quest for the common bile duct

While you're at it.... Do you have any advice for visualizing the ovaries on transabdominal? Obviously transvaginal is optimal, but if you don't have the time and/or the patient is going for an official transvaginal study imminently and you don't want to upset her, what's your advice for...

    residencies for peds surg

I've heard Penn State is really good as a general surg residency to prepare you for fellowships. They have a really good track record in the last ten years of matching people into peds surgery fellowships. I think part of this is because they get so much Peds surgery experience during their...

    Two 6th edition Tintinalli's?

So I'm looking to buy Tintinalli online at Amazon, and I can't figure this out... can anyone help? It appears that there are two 6th editions to buy online... one was made in Feb 2005 and costs $210, and the other was made in 2003, and costs less (I think it was around $180). Does anyone...

I really didn't mean to upset anybody, but would you really not apply to a program because a handful of people told you they had a score of "X" and they didn't match there (or get interviews)? On the other hand, would you really apply to a program because someone with a score of "high X"...
