About the School
The RVC is one of the few veterinary schools in the world that hold accreditations from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in the UK, the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (ESEVT of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) in the EU, and the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) in the USA and Canada. This makes our graduates eligible to work in both the UK and North America along with many other countries including Ireland, Australia and New Zealand - a real advantage for those looking to develop an international career. Further information on our accreditation can be found on our website. We have been ranked in the top three veterinary schools in the world by the prestigious QS World University Rankings since 2015 and are currently ranked the number one veterinary school in the world.
Curriculum
We offer two veterinary medicine degrees; a four year Accelerated programme, for graduates who meet our prerequisite requirements and a five year programme, for those who do not meet our prerequisite requirements or are joining us from High School with relevant qualifications. All applicants through VMCAS apply, and are considered, for the four year course in the first instance but where we cannot offer a place on the course, they will automatically be considered for the five year course. Whilst our courses are entitled 'Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine', graduates of this course are entitled to call themselves 'Doctor', in the same way as a US DVM.
Facilities
With one campus right in the centre of London, and one located in the Hertfordshire countryside, the RVC is perfectly placed to deliver on everything that student life has to offer. Our Veterinary Medicine course is split between both campuses. As well as studying the latest theory and practice, you can expect plenty of practical ‘hands on’ experience, taught by leading experts in their field. The result is a unique degree course that will equip you for life for a range of careers in veterinary medicine and beyond.
Demographics
Our students come from many different schools, backgrounds and countries, all sharing common goals – a strong ambition to succeed in the veterinary field and a passion for animal welfare. We welcome applications from all individuals with great potential and the dedication to commit to the course and succeed in the veterinary profession. We demand high levels of motivation and, in return, promise a rich and rewarding experience during your time with us.
