The Student Doctor Network (SDN) has received a $5,000 Materials and Resource Grant from the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), in partnership with the Association of STEMM Pathway and Bridge Programs (ASPBP), to support the integration of a learning management system for its online courses. The project, “Learning Management System Integration to Support Novel Online Courses Developed by SDN,” will be led by Emil Chuck, PhD, Director of Advising Services for SDN.
“We will use the funding to integrate a robust learning management system with our web services to significantly improve our constituent engagement, enhance the course content and organization, and expand access across different devices for our flagship Becoming a Student Doctor course,” said Dr. Chuck.
“Expanding our course offerings has been a key multi-year project for our organization,” said Laura Turner, Executive Director of SDN. “We are extremely grateful for the support from the NBME and ASPBP for this grant and look forward to using the funds to advance our online course offerings.”

About the Materials and Resource Grant Program
The NBME Materials and Resources grants support pathway programs across the entire educational continuum. These grants are intended for pathway programs investigating the effectiveness of strategies that increase the number of underrepresented and traditionally underserved individuals in the medical profession. Eligible applicants included community-based programs and educational institutions from elementary through higher education focused on evaluating interventions that promote diversity in the medical field.
