SDN Knowledge API and Licensed Retrieval Platform

Last updated: June 2026

The Health Professional Student Association (HPSA), which operates the Student Doctor Network (SDN) site, may offer licensed access to selected public SDN site knowledge through search, retrieval, citation, summarization, analytics, API access, and institutional research tools. These services are designed to support healthcare education, student advising, academic research, institutional planning, and educational technology while protecting community privacy.

Licensed Knowledge Access, Not Personal Data Sales

HPSA-licensed SDN site knowledge services provide access to public educational content, public metadata, citations, summaries, and retrieval results. HPSA does not sell or license private member data, including email addresses, IP addresses, user account information, private messages, deleted content, moderation records, donation records, payment information, sensitive personal information, or user behavioral profiles through these services.

HPSA remains the data owner and licensing authority. SDN is the public site and community network where the source content appears.

What Authorized Services May Cover

Authorized services may include search, retrieval, citation, summarization, embeddings, analytics, and structured educational metadata drawn from HPSA-operated SDN site resources, including public forum content, public educational articles, the Schools Database, Interview Feedback, Secondary Essay Prompts, admissions resources, and public taxonomies.

The intended model is retrieval rather than distribution. Licensed customers may receive search results, citations, summaries, metadata, and limited retrieved passages. They should not receive database dumps, full corpus exports, replicated archives, or bulk access unless expressly authorized in a written HPSA agreement.

Attribution and Mission Alignment

Authorized users must identify SDN as the source site when SDN content materially informs an output, summary, citation, or product feature. Uses should advance HPSA’s nonprofit educational mission, including healthcare education, student advising, academic research, institutional planning, and responsible educational technology.

Customer Restrictions

Unless a written HPSA agreement expressly says otherwise, authorized customers may not redistribute SDN site content, republish SDN site content at scale, create competing substitutes for SDN site services, remove attribution, re-identify users, sell derived user profiles, circumvent rate limits, resell API access, use licensed access for foundation-model training, replicate the corpus, or perform bulk exports.

Separate Written Licenses

Organizations seeking access beyond the public SDN AI Attribution License or standard public site access must obtain written authorization from HPSA. Written HPSA commercial, institutional, research, or API agreements may provide permissions that are not available under public website terms.
