i'm going to columbia and i sent them my amcas essay. i don't remember exactly what the question was, but if your amcas personal statment fits their question, even loosely, i'd send it. if you work a hundred hours on your personal statement and then have this other separate application to do...

great book...by a HMS grad who is now a pediatrician. about med school, etc. i highly recommend it, esp if any of you are feeling excited about med school starting this fall and looking for a way to relieve that energy without actually studying!

NO CONTEST = NORTHWESTERN is a far better school. It's got a better rep, more interesting curriculum, many different kinds of hospitals - all of which are EXCELLENT, better research going on. The areas the schools are in are different. I prefer DC, but Chicago's a cool city and NW Med is right...

i'd just like to second: READ KAY R. JAMISON'S BOOK!!!! it was really illustrative. my family has a strong history of mood disorders and i found her story comforting and encouraging.

the subject of this thread may have gone a bit away from it's original question, but in terms of being known as an md... i firmly plan on introducing myself to anyone who'll listen as dr. alice. i doubt i'll sign letters alice, md. but i think dr. is a pretty solid way to be known by patients...

yay jocks! i also played d1 sports 4 years. i found my grades always went up in season, too. maybe it was the 48hour rule or something.
